Event description

Spanish Upskilling - Primary

Languages are now a statutory part of the Key Stage 2 curriculum. This one-day course is perfect for anyone involved in the delivery of KS2 Languages who might lack confidence in their pronunciation and understanding of the Spanish language.

This is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some knowledge of the Spanish language—perhaps a GCSE from a long time ago, or even a very rusty ‘A’ level. This course would not be appropriate for native speakers.

Aims and Content

In line with the national requirements relating to Key Stage 2 Languages:

  • The identification of key Spanish phonic sounds;
  • The application of these phonic sounds in order to achieve accurate pronunciation;
  • Analysis of the key language encountered in the teaching of Spanish at KS2, based on the content of widely used schemes of work;
  • An exploration of some key language concepts which can prove daunting, for example: nouns, articles, gender, singular/plural, adjectival agreement and verbs;
  • Modelling of activities that can be used in the Primary Languages classroom;
  • Signposting sources of support for language difficulties and pronunciation.

9.00am – 3.30pm Tuesday 28th November 2017
