Join us at Ibérica in Manchester (Thursday 28th March) for an exciting evening of talking and tasting Spanish & English ciders. We will show some of the finest and most delicious ciders from the north of Spain and the south and west of England. 

Hosted by drinks educator, Alison Taffs and Asturian Group Head Bartender, Nacho Ordiz, they will guide you through the history of cider, origins and stories of the best of cider in both countries.

In Asturias, the lush, green region of northern Spain, cider is more than a drink, it's a lifestyle. Sidra asturiana is a natural, fruit-driven, traditionally served by pouring from a height with great drama (escanciar) – if you’ve never experienced cider pouring the Asturian way, you are in for a memorable experience! 

In England, cider was traditionally an important part of our economy: apple orchards were extensively planted in Kent, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, and Worcestershire, in the 16th and 17th centuries. The bulk of these apples were used for cider making. Cider formed a significant part of rural workers wages. We will taste craft ciders made from whole fruit with flavour and complexity to rival fine wine, a million miles from the cheap fizzy flavoured alcopops called “cider” we see too often.


Join us for an evening of some of the best drinks from the noble apple; including a tasting of the unique Somerset Cider Brandy and luscious and intense Spanish Ice Cider. The cider tasting will be accompanied by a selection of small bites.
