Frequently asked questions

What does the ticket price include?

A tour of the castle, including the newly refurbished bedroom that Queen Victoria slept in. A free glass of Tinwood Estate sparkling wine or an alcohol free fizz. Canapes. Entertainment all evening. Many guests will leave with a signed copy of one of our special guests books.

What time does the event start?

For those wishing to join the after hours tour of the castle, you should arrive at the Lower Lodge on Mill Road from 5:15pm. If you don't wish to join the tour, you should arrive from 6pm. Please try to arrive promptly if joining a tour.

What do I wear?

We encourage you to dress semi-formally, appropriate to the venue. Please bring a coat/umbrella for the autumnal evening weather.

When does the event finish?

9pm.

How do I get there?

If you are driving, there is free parking along Mill Road all day. Mill Road car park is opposite the entrance. It is free from 6pm. Prior to that, parking is £2.50 for up to three hours. By train Arundel train station is a 20 minute walk.

What should I bring?

You will need cash if you wish to purchase additional drinks and nibbles from the bar (there is no Wifi or reception in the Library for card payments.) You will need a credit card if you wish to bid in our Auction.

What are the auction prizes?

Fantastic auction lots (kindly donated by local businesses and services) will be listed on our website: https://home-startawa.org.uk/sparkle-stories-and-soul-at-the-castle/

What is this event in aid of?

This year, Home-Start Arun, Worthing & Adur celebrates 25 years of supporting vulnerable local children and their families. We have marked this occasion with special events throughout the year. All funds raised will go towards supporting these children in the year to come!

I can't actually come to the event, but can I donate anyway?

Yes of course! Go to https://home-startawa.org.uk/sparkle-stories-and-soul-at-the-castle/ and donate today! Remember to tick yes to gift aid if you are a UK tax payer as we can claim an additional 25% on your donation. Thank you!

Do you offer discounts?

No, we are sorry but on this occasion, tickets are £75 each. The space in the library limits guest numbers to 70 max and as this is a fundraiser, we'd like to raise as much money as possible to support local children. We did initially offer a discounted price to some of our regular donors.

Can you tell me a bit more about the venue?

Yes, go to: https://www.arundelcastle.org/faqs/

Can children come?

Yes, with an adult, but we are unable to offer discounted tickets. We cannot guarantee that all of the content will be 'child-friendly'.

Do you allow refunds?

No. We're afraid not. As our team is just a few part time staff, there are many event overheads and this event is a fundraiser, we will not offer refunds.

Is the castle accessible?

Yes. But please contact Julie in advance as some lifts need to be operated by castle staff. There is a gentle incline from the grounds entrance to the castle entrance - a buggy can be pre-arranged. There are many steps in the castle, but there are lifts. Contact Julie on admin@home-startawa.org.uk

Anything else to note?

Yes, whilst canapes will be served and there will be nibbles to purchase behind the bar, the event will not end until 9pm and so your evening meal will be late!
