Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design (short for SPCCD), celebrates the opening of its new London home in conjunction with Creative Twin Cities, with both talks and a launch party. The SPCCD London Base and China Design Centre will be working side by side to form a new institution: China-UK Innovation Centre.
SPCCD is a non-profit organisation, providing services for the promotion of the creative design industries in Shanghai, and the construction of “City of Design”. It is part of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information. Its aim is to promote Shanghai as authorized by the UNESCO "Creative City" (Shanghai) Promotion Office.
We are holding an opening ceremony on 23rd of September at 18:00. There will be a series of talks by representatives from China and the UK, including Wei Gao, the Chairman of Shanghai Furniture Association and Mike Dynan, co-founder of Media 10.
There is an accompanying exhibition, “From Crafts to Design”, which showcases a range of furniture, products and lighting designed in China. Exquisitely made rosewood furniture celebrates the traditional Chinese craftsmanship, where young Chinese design talents reveal modern products, which recalls our rich oriental culture through the detailing.
It will be a great opportunity for industry networking, with a chance to meet some of the best-known designers from China. Drinks, canapés and DJ are provided.
