Description

So it's our first Resi focused Insights event!!!

The phrase, 'Property Ladder' has been engrained in the British psyche for decades. But with salaries stagnating, developments dragging and property prices rising, will the 'Property Ladder' be viewed by future generations much like the American Dream - something aspired to, but never acheived? If so, are we at the beginning of a new era of renting and will co-living become the new normal?

Join us for an evening of debate, drinks and networking with some of the industry's leading thinkers.

David Reid: Development Director: WeLive

David is responsible for helping to deliver WeLive’s strategy and expansion in the UK and mainland Europe. He oversees partnerships with landlords/developers/funds/agencies in the region. Prior to WeWork, David worked for private equity companies in London, latterly at Cavendish Partners as a Director of their joint venture division with national housebuilder Taylor Wimpey plc over 10 years. He holds an MSc in Real Estate Investment from Cass Business School, an MA from the University of Edinburgh and is a Member of the RICS.

Rayhan Rafiq Omar: Founder: Unmortgage

Ray is the founder of Unmortgage, the new way to buy a home without a loan. He is a residential property expert with 17 years experience managing and growing a residential property portfolio. Ray previously worked at asset manager Insight Investment where he learnt about the world of pensions and Liability Driven Investment.

Marcus Dixon: Head of Research: LonRes

With over 14 years of experience, Marcus is one of the sector’s leading residential housing analysts. His career began within the Savills Residential Research team where, as an Associate Director, he was involved with both in-house projects and on one-off consultancy reports commissioned by developers, investors and valuers. In 2011, Marcus joined independent property analysts, Dataloft, where he worked as a senior analyst specialising in the prime London housing market. Marcus was appointed as Head of Research at LonRes in 2015, and regularly appears in both the national and industry press.

Vanessa Hale: Partner of Research: Strutt & Parker

Vanessa has 16 years of diverse experience in global research with over a decade specifically in property. She has worked across two continents on multiple sectors of the real estate industry including: office, industrial, retail, residential (new and existing homes, private rented sector (PRS), build to rent (BTR), and senior living), hotel, healthcare and mixed-use. Using a variety of research methodologies and original research to execute projects, Vanessa enables businesses to understand market trends and their potential impacts. She is currently responsible for leading the Housing Futures programme in the UK, identifying trends that will impact the future homes that we plan, design, build and live in. Working at CBRE in the USA prior to Strutt & Parker, Vanessa undertook bespoke project work for key clients such as: Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo. Her analysis has included optimising occupier portfolios, understanding future tenant demand, and assessing workplace strategies. Additionally, she led the research team in reporting market data covering over 250 million square feet of Chicago office space. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science degree from Roosevelt University. Vanessa is the Vice Chair of the UK Executive Board for the Urban Land Institute and is involved with the Society of Property Researchers.
