Event description

Description

We invite you and your financial/corporate colleagues to the next SPE London Business Development event. This evening event will focus on Public Relations in Upstream Oil and Gas.

We will hear from speakers on a panel discussing how different players in the Upstream industry protect and manage reputations using different communications strategies. This will be followed by a Q&A session, and time for drinks and networking.

How does Public Relations help an oil and gas company? They manage reputations during a crisis, inform the public about M&A transactions and IPOs, etc. They can sometimes be seen as ‘cost centres’ or ‘spin doctors’. However, they can be extremely effective in raising awareness and differentiating companies from other listed stocks. They need an integrated view of the company, assets, company plans and all regulatory requirements.

  • How can we engineers and financial professionals use PR to add value to our companies and our projects?
  • What do PR professionals wish that petroleum engineers and bankers knew about PR?
  • How much do equity analysts rely on press releases? How do they monitor the media and Upstream companies’ annual reports?
  • Are ‘Buy’ and ‘Sell’ recommendations based on fundamentals as well as market hype?
  • Learn tricks and tips about press releases to help with your own private share portfolios!

Speakers representing the three groups below will explain how they handle the exchange of information between the company, regulators and other stakeholders (including the public):

  • Large operators: Field developments and social initiatives as part of a huge portfolio of activities.
  • Small-cap and Mid-cap companies: Reporting good news, bad news and uncertainty to investors.
  • Investors and Analysts: How to read between the lines in press releases.
