SPE London YP's - 'Low Salinity Waterflooding in Carbonates Technical Event
Event Information
About this event
We are excited to invite you to another virtual technical event on Low Salinity Waterflooding in Carbonates: Revealing the underlying mechanisms with digital core analysis. Low salinity waterflooding (LSW) is one of the most promising enhanced oil recovery techniques due to its relatively low cost and minimal environmental impact
Agenda: Ahmed Selem will present some findings from his PhD project on LSW combining core flooding and digital core analysis. The talk will highlight the displacement processes and wettability changes associated with LSW. It will also discuss the difference in recovery factors between injecting low salinity water at the start of field production (secondary mode) compared to when injected after seawater (tertiary mode).
Speaker: Ahmed Selem is a Reservoir Engineering PhD candidate at Imperial Collage London. His industrial research project, in collaboration with TotalEnergies, focuses on understanding LSW as an efficient method to improve oil recovery from carbonate reservoirs which are critical for the world's energy supply as they host most of the remaining oil and gas reserves, Ahmed is also a training consultant delivering oil and gas technical courses on topics including fundamentals of exploration and production, petroleum economics, enhance oil recovery and project management for Oil and gas development projects. Ahmed graduated from University of Manchester with MSc (Distinction) in Petroleum Geoscience for reservoir development and production and has a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from Suez University and an Engineering diploma from City University of London.
Please note that this event is being delivered virtually.
