About this event

ON THE 2ND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH, SPEAK THE WORD RUNS A POETRY EDITING WORKSHOP

What this means is that we bring a poem and our request (encouragement, validation, critique – for example) to the group and we support each other in improving our craft.

We’re building a close, welcoming and supportive community with each other – wherever we’re at with our poetry – to learn together about editing and how to give feedback.

You don’t need to be an expert. Nobody needs to feel ill-prepared, we figure out out together!

Please bring along one piece of writing that you are working on (poetry/prose). Please also have it typed up, because we will ask you to share your screen.

We will have approximately 15 minutes to discuss each person's work.

Event time: 6–7.30pm (GMT/UTC)

Duration: 90 minutes

Accessibility: Captioning available, let us know if you have any other accessibility needs.

Queer & trans-affirming.

Our Speak the Word events are designed for adults (18+), and are not appropriate for those under the age of 18. We hope you find a supportive space elsewhere to nourish your poetry.

Organised by

Speak the Word Poetry Salon is an online poetry collective that PJ Samuels and nudi co-organise. Other poets holding space for the collective include Maureen Medina, Nona Lea, Tara Singh, NJ Holt, Tanya Denhere and Tarrine Khanom. We host twice-per-week free-access poetry writing, editing and journaling workshops, open mics, and ad hoc literary events.

We're welcoming, queer-led, and queer and trans-affirming.

The sessions are popular but low-key, relaxed, run as a safer space, close-captioned and working towards better accessibility.
