Description

Misogyny - behaviours and incidents carried out by males targeted at women simply because they are women.

On a spectrum from 'casual' comments belittling women to sexual objectification to online trolling to sexual harrassment on the streets and in the workplace, and, at it's worst, to the rape and murder of women. Is misogynistic behaviour the 'enforcement branch' of sexism and a world ruled mainly by men/the patriarchy? Is it about 'keeping women in their place'?

Join us to discuss the issues and how they might be addressed. This workshop will include speakers on Misogyny as a Hate Crime (North Yorkshire Police), sexual harrassment and your legal rights (UNISON), and on domestic abuse and sexual violence (IDAS).
