Description

Speaking with Confidence

This session is open only to current students at the University of Portsmouth

Do you feel nervous or anxious about speaking publicly, for example in presentations, practical exams, seminars or vivas? Do you forget what you want to say, trip over words, speak too quickly or quietly, run out of breath, or tremble - or have other effects of nerves?

Or do you feel quite confident but would like to polish your performance?

This session will prepare you for public speaking and help you to feel and look and more confident. It provides practical techniques to reduce and conceal the effects of nerves and will help to build your confidence, project yourself well and engage your audience.

The session will will assist your performance in assessed presentations and contribute to your future graduate career.

If you cannot attend on the offered dates, please contact academicskills@port.ac.uk to request a one-to-one tutorial.

If you have a group who wish to get together, you can request a group session. Please contact Ask.
Requested sessions are for groups of students (4 or more) who wish to get together - for example, to prepare for a group presentation or seminar, or if you share similar concerns. They can be organised by staff or students
