Your school has been invited to the first Special Schools Data Managers Forum at Swiss Cottage School on Wednesday 19th September.

Following on from our first Data Managers Forum during the Summer term, the event will have a focus on SIMS Interventions, the use of the SEN module for more advanced documentation storing (i.e. EHCP as linked docs) and in the Needs area how to add in links to good web sites for guidance.

Hosted by Viv Reed, MIS Manager at SBS, the speakers at the event will be Janette Hall (Capita), Abdul Raheem Hafeez (Swiss Cottage School) and Carmel Fox (West Lea School).

We invite you to come along to hear about the latest tools available for Special Schools, upcoming developments, share best-practice and discuss your challenges with experts and peers.

School Business Services are pleased to be able to offer to facilitate this and future sessions from the lovely training facilities at Swiss Cottage School, an outstanding school in Camden for children with complex learning difficulties, emotional, behavioural and communication difficulties.

Session times

Wednesday 19th September 2018 - 10:00-13:30

Agenda

- Using SIMS SEN effectively throughout your school - Janette Hall, Customer Success Manager, Capita

Janette's presentation will demonstrate how SIMS can be used to support pupils with special needs and takes a role based approach: SENCO, class teacher, SLT, Parents, Teaching Assistant. This will include the SEN screens but extends to consider the use of the wider MIS.

- Assessment & Moderation for Special Schools - Abdul Raheem Hafeez, Data Analyst, Swiss Cottage School

Following on from his presentation 'Holistic Assessment Approach for SEND learners' at our previous event, Abdul's next presentation will further engage SEND providers in the room. Currently, all special schools are looking for some assessment framework to replace P-scales. Some special schools have developed bespoke frameworks but are still struggling with moderation process. This session will demonstrate the assessment frameworks Swiss Cottage School uses at different key stages and for different SEND groups and the moderation process.

- A unique SIMS solution for our Special Environment - Carmel Fox (West Lea School)

West Lea is an all through school in Enfield catering for children with special educational needs which can continue until 25 years old. Our students have a complex mix of SEND covering the range of needs. With a bespoke Learning for Life Curriculum there was a need to have a progress recording system linked to the EHCP process that catered for the diversity and captured learning in small steps. In addition we wanted it to cater for the variety of needs in terms of timetable. As a result we have worked with consultants from SIMS to create a bespoke way of using it. This session is intended to share the process we went through in identifying what was needed and how we identified the SIMS solutions to suit our needs.

- Ask the Panel - SBS SIMS experts and Senior Capita representatives ready to take your data questions - Provide your question

- Consultancy Café - opportunity for networking with SBS representatives and peers

Refreshments will be available 30 minutes prior to the start of the session
