Event description

Description

This year’s Special schools, specialist and alternative provision conference theme is “Celebrating success; succeeding against the odds”.

Starting on the evening of 8 March, this year we have an optional panel debate with leading SEN experts followed by a networking dinner with the speakers. After dinner we will hear from NAHT general secretary Paul Whiteman. This evening gives delegates the chance to put forward their questions to the panellists and to expand their network by meeting colleagues from around the country – whether you work in a special school or are the SEN lead in a mainstream school. Please note that tickets for this evening event will need to be booked in addition to the conference ticket - to book this, select your conference ticket above and select the add on item at the end of the booking form. A member place is £75 and a non-member place is £95.

The main conference starts on the morning of 9 March with opening keynote speaker Aaron Phipps, a former Team GB Wheelchair Rugby player and London 2012 Paralympian who will inspire us with his powerful story around resiliance and positive change.

During the day you will have the opportunity to take part in three specially commissioned workshops – click on the workshop title below for more information about each one.

Along with networking time and a chance to talk to SEN specific exhibitions, the day will end with a keynote speech from Jean Gross CBE. A national expert on SEN, Jean is the former Communication Champion for children and is the chair of the Bercow Ten Years On 2018 Revuew of services for SLCN.
