This special one off workshop is part of the centenary celebrations of scientist D'arcy Thompson's book 'On Growth and Form' (http://www.darcythompson.org/about.html). Fiona Thompson has made a series of artwork inspired by the D'Arcy Thompson Museum, and has work in the permanent art collection of the University of Dundee. She will be running this workshop in association with the University and the City Art Centre, where related exhibitions will take place.
In On Growth & Form, D’Arcy Thompson compares natural forms to those made by the potter’s wheel. In this hands-on workshop, Fiona will show you how to make unique ceramic forms inspired by natural growth patterns using various techniques, and will show you how to create surface pattern and texture.
Your work will be fired and glazed ready to collect a few weeks later. You'll be notified when its ready and then will have a month to collect.
£50 per person, inclusive of materials,preparation and firings.
