Description

This is a FIVE day workshop, but with slightly different timing on the fourth and fifth days, and a different venue on the fifth day. Please take careful note because you need to attend every session, or as close to that as possible.

  • Monday 1st July 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Tuesday 2nd July 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Wednesday 3rd July 5 pm to 9 pm
  • Thursday 4th July 9 am to 1 pm
  • Friday 5th July 10 am to 5 pm at The Pirate Castle, Main Hall, 33 Oval Rd, Camden Town, London NW1 7EA

Do you want to use drama to explore stories related to suicide with theatre director Jeremy Weller?

Weller specialises in work with untrained actors to tell their stories. Now he’s collaborating with Talk for Health.

If you have a personal story related to suicide - if you've thought about it or been affected by it, read on.

In the first week of July, Jeremy will lead a FIVE day workshop to explore stories about suicide and the feelings related to that - from despair to anger to hope and strength. Following on from this, you will create a performance for World Mental Health Day.

Jeremy's work with theatre as a tool to explore the human condition is highly acclaimed:

  • BBC Radio described Weller as a world leader in “social inclusion art”
  • Palme d’Or winning screenwriter Paul Laverty doubted there could be a “more spellbounding moment” in the Edinburgh Festival after watching a Weller show
  • Movie director Lars von Trier said he had “never seen performances like it”

This is suitable for you if you feel interested and strong enough to share stories related to suicide, and want to work with a group of Talk for Health community memebrs to create a performance,

There is space for just 15 - 20 people.

This workshop will lead to a public storytelling / performance with an audience of 100 on the evening of World Mental Health Day 10th October 2019.
