Specialist Search are pleased to announce we are hosting a Search & Rescue Dog Seminar with Cadaver Dog Expert Dr Lorna Irish and Trailing Dog extraordinaire Karin Lee.

These two ladies will offer all Search Dog handlers, students, public services the knowledge and a variety of Techniques that will be game changing for you in your specialism. Come join us for a fantastic day and to meet the countries industry leading ladies.

Speakers;

Dr Lorna Irish

Lorna Irish BSc (Hons), PhD

Lorna graduated in 2012 from Sheffield Hallam University with a 1st Class degree in Forensic and Analytical Science. She went on to complete her PhD “Comparison of Volatile Organic Compounds Identified from Cadaver Decomposition and Olfactory Performance of Trained Victim Recovery Do...gs” at the University of Huddersfield in 2016. Her research encompassed both the chemical analysis of decomposing animal remains alongside field experiments to ascertain which chemical odours Victim Recovery (VR) dogs respond to. Lorna has visited and liaised with a number of police forces and civilian organisations training VR dogs in the UK, and other countries, to review methods used. Her particular research interests lie in the use of dogs for the detection of submerged human remains, the training of VR dogs and increasing the awareness of VR dog capabilities. She has given numerous presentations on these subjects nationally and internationally. Lorna is currently employed as a Scientist where she continues to work alongside detection dogs.

Karin Lee

Karin Lee is born in Germany. She is the K9 Training Officer in a volunteer capacity for Essex SAR and the proprietor of the Essex and Herts Canine Centre, a successful company that provides Detection and Mantrailing Dogs to national and internationa...l clients.
Karin is involved in training SAR dogs, Detection Dog and General Purpose Dogs for over 25 Years.
She is training and working Mantrailing Dogs for 7 years and works her Malinois “Cedric” very successful for the Essex Police Force for 4 years. Cedric is also Karin’s Victim Detection Dog.
Karin worked and trained with a large number of different Mantrailing instructors and handlers all over Europe and the UK and she is very passionate about some aspects in relation to working a Mantrailing Dog.
If not engaged in her volunteer role for Essex SAR, Karin works full time as a dog trainer. She sources and trains dogs for detection work to meet her customer requirements. She started a puppy imprinting program in 2016, which is very successful with the Border Protection Agency
