Join us for a day at Clayton Vale and learn about Waxcaps!
Meeting Location: ///hooked.photo.racing (what3words /// The simplest way to talk about location)
Learn about Waxcap ecology, survey methodology and logging records for each species during training workshops at Clayton Vale Green Community Hub. This in-person workshop will have a classroom session to introduce the species before getting some hands-on survey experience across the Medlock Valley. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned fungi enthusiast, this workshop is perfect for anyone interested in conservation and biodiversity. Following the workshop, there will be an opportunity to conduct further surveys across various sites within Medlock Valley. Having attended the workshop it would be desirable for volunteers to participate in these surveys. Don't miss out on this opportunity to contribute to important research while having a blast!
Please note that only the first session will include a classroom workshop with the following dates after the 29th September comprising of surveys only.
This workshop is part of the wider Species Survial Fund Project which support the creation and restoration of wildlife-rich habitats in England. It is open to individuals and organisations working to recover nature. It was launched to help halt and reverse the decline in species abundance, by preserving vital habitats. This will support the delivery of our Environmental Improvement Plan commitments including achieving our target to protect 30% of land for nature by 2030.
The data collected by local volunteers will contribute to citizen science records, as well as to support the management of local habitats for Waxcaps.
