Event description
Experience some magnificent mountain scenery on this tour of low-level race checkpoints along the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline® race route.

About this event

Take a series of short walks through beautiful Glencoe and share breathtaking mountain scenery with competitors of the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline®

This guided walk offers the chance to watch the lead runners coming into checkpoints 4, checkpoint 5 and the cut-off checkpoint (roadside) at checkpoint 9.

You will briefly meet your guide and the rest of the group at the Event Village after the race start (meeting at 07:45). From there, the group will need to organise their own transport to Glen Coe (where we will meet at 08:30). However, your guide will facilitate lift-sharing wherever possible (and if Covid-compliant) to reduce the number of cars parking in the glen.

We will email you a few days ahead of the event to confirm meeting and travel arrangements.

This guided walk is specifically designed for the friends and family of the competitors who would like to experience the Scottish mountains without climbing up high, and who would prefer to do so as part of a group. Suitable for older children (in the company of their parents only, and no children under 10 years).

For all our guided walks please come prepared for any weather, and a day of mountain walking. This means you will need the following essentials:

A packed lunch and plenty of snacks

Water bottle (and perhaps a thermos flask if it is cold)

Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers

Warm mid-layer AND a spare warm jacket (it quickly gets cold when you stop to spectate)

Suitable footwear such as walking boots

Hat & gloves

Our guides will carry emergency equipment for the group such as a first aid kit and group shelter.

Please note, when you meet your guide, there will always be group discussion and decision about the itinerary based on the weather and groups’ ability. It is possible that the group will decide on a different plan. If transport is required, the group will need to organise this with their personal vehicles.

This out-and-back hike is 5-6km total with 150m ascent total. Exact start and finish times TBC upon meeting your guide at the Skyline Scotland event village in Kinlochleven.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee that these timings will intercept a specific competitor/s passing through any of the above checkpoints. However, you will certianly be able to experience the atmosphere and tension of the event first-hand, as well as watch the start and finish of the race for the majority of competitors.
