Stories, Facts, Confidence: A Methodical Approach to the American way of Speeches and Speechwriting

About this Event

This online Zoom workshop is made up of two, two-hour sessions with Mike Long.

Session 1: Wednesday 18 November from 11am to 1pm (UK time)

Session 2: Friday 20 November from 11am to 1pm (UK time)

The ticket price includes both sessions.

Subject

Americans tend to give speeches heavy on argument, strong on story, and short on niceties.

In this session, you’ll learn from Michael Long, the resident writing coach of the US-based Professional Speechwriters Association, who will take you step by step through the preparation of this “American style” speech.

His focus includes time budgeting, research, the elevation of purpose over topic, a new approach to audience analysis, the value of precise structure, and tips for easier, faster writing.

Originally trained as a scientist, Mike introduces a methodical approach to impose practical, time-saving order on the speechwriting process so that the completed document is easier to deliver, more effective in its impact, and uniquely American.

How it Works

When you buy your ticket you will be issued with a Zoom link which you can log on to join the workshop. It is your responsiblity to join the session.

If you find you cannot attend, you can ask for a refund up to 48 hours before the event.
