Event description

Description

Products of the newly expanding global trade networks – particularly spices but also other ingredients – had an impact on the public imagination and the private kitchen in early modern Europe.

This event, presented by the Centre for Early Modern Studies, will mix talks, performance and food tastings, to take you back to the early modern period, exploring the emerging global trade which changed our understanding of the world.

The Centre for Early Modern Studies was established in 2015 to promote research in the early modern period (broadly speaking, 1400-1700). The Centre is committed to promoting historical understanding across a range of cultures and disciplines, as well as cultivating innovative interdisciplinary projects.
