LSBU School of Applied Sciences professorial lecture series
Spine health of older people: can technology help?
by Professor Raymond Lee, Dean and Professor of Biomechanics, School of Applied Sciences
This evening lecture, delivered by Prof. Raymond Lee, Dean of the School of Applied Sciences marks the start of a series of professorial lectures given by our own professors and distinguished invited scholars.
The lecture will highlight the School's recent research findings which challenge some of the current beliefs about ageing. We shall ask some fundamental questions – why do we shrink as we get old? Is a walking workout really good for us? Fitness trackers are everywhere, but do they work? We shall also examine some innovative use of miniature sensors in improving the healthcare of older people.
This lecture series is intended to showcase the work of the School of Applied Sciences and present our vision to be a student-focused academic centre of excellence to our students, staff, friends in industry and the local community.
