Health • Personal health

Spire Hull and East Riding are excited to invite you to the second of our Cafes. This time we're putting the focus on Pectus Excavatum, drawing attention the prevalence of the condition, as well as providing treatment information and sharing inspiring stories.

Pectus Excavatum is one of, if not the most common anterior chest wall condition, which is estimated to occur in 1 in 400 to 1 in 1000 individuals. Although pectus can present at birth, most with experience a marked worsening of the condition during puberty. This can lead to increased pressure on the heart, cardiopulmonary limitations, as well as impacting the individual both mentally and emotionally.

Our Cafe hopes to focus on how common a condition Pectus Excavatum can be, highlighting treatment options of both a clinical and non-clinical nature, and sharing the support options and pathways that are available.

Taking part in the event we have:Mr Ian Hunt - Specialist Thoracic SurgeonMr Joel Dunning - Consultant Thoracic Surgeon

We will also have Becky Blount speaking as a part of the evening, relaying her son Bobby's experiences living with Pectus Excavatum, as well as what tests and services they accessed as a part of Bobby's road to recovery.

All attendees are welcome!

Whether you are a patient, a Primary Care colleague, you work at Spire, or you're none of the above - Take the chance to have a hot drink and learn from, speak and share with each other and our experts. Bring your friends, the door is open to everyone.

Our speakers will be able to offer advice and insights on Pectus Excavatum from a range of perspectives. We hope the venue will also allow all others attending to have a hot drink, learn, listen and speak with others with their own experiences.
