Description

Drawing inspiration from the noir greats, four crime writers will discuss their work and how spirit drinks have featured in their (characters’) lives.

Moderating will be the renowned crime fiction commentator Barry Forshaw, whose own guide book American Noir is out with Oldcastle Books in April 2017. He broadcasts, and edits Crime Time (www.crimetime.co.uk). Oh, and did we mention that a special whisky-based 'noir' cocktail is being created for the night? ...

Steph Broadribb trained as a bounty hunter in California and blogs about crime fiction at www.crimethrillergirl.com. Her debut novel - action thriller Deep Down Dead - features Florida bounty hunter and single mom Lori Anderson. It is out as an ebook now and in paperback on 5th January 2017 (from Orenda Books).

Rod Reynolds’ American noir debut was The Dark Inside, which was long-listed for the Crime Writers’ Association New Blood Award. His second book in the series, recently out, is Black Night Falling. Both are published by Faber & Faber and feature hard-drinking investigative reporter Charlie Yates.

Daniel Pembrey's Amsterdam noir series features Detective Henk van der Pol. Book one, The Harbour Master, is now out from No Exit Press and the sequel book, Night Market, is due out as an ebook on 26th January. Detective Van der Pol's favourite drink is chilled genever (gin).

Michael Grothaus (also Orenda Books) wrote Epiphany Jones, which looks at the scourge of international sex trafficking – in a novel and humorous way. Michael previously worked in the film industry in Los Angeles.

Please note: given the small venue size and fire regulations, ticket numbers are limited.
