The award-winning London Contemporary Orchestra performs a selection of contemporary compositions and scores: The Fear from 2020 hit BBC/Netflix series, Dracula, by Michael Price and David Arnold, Aheym by Bryce Dessner (The National), who they recently collaborated with for Netflix series Two Popes, and finally, new collaborations with composers Alev Lenz and Nala Sinephro, conducted by Robert Ames.
The London Contemporary Orchestra are renowned for their innovative performance style, commissioning and developing new and exciting compositions and performing live across the globe. Formed in 2008 by co-Artistic Directors and conductors Robert Ames and Hugh Brunt, they have arranged and performed countless hit film and television scores, including Suspiria, Moonlight, There Will Be Blood, The Master, Alien: Covenant, Macbeth, Phantom Thread, Assassins’ Creed, and Under the Skin. They have collaborated with a diverse range of composers, artists, creative figures and platforms — from Steve Reich to Mica Levi; Hannah Perry to Vivienne Westwood and Frank Ocean to Radiohead, featuring heavily on Radiohead’s 2016 album, A Moon Shaped Pool.
Songwriter and composer Alev Lenz, whose compositions feature on hit Netflix series Black Mirror and Dark, performs songs from her latest album, ‘3’. Released by SA Recordings in September 2019, the record is predominantly carried by vocals, creating a raw and honest tonal palette which exhibits the emotional power of the human voice. It was released in conjunction with a bespoke sample library made up of inspiring sounds and textures from Alev’s sound world, developed by Spitfire Audio.
For this performance, Alev is joined live by London Contemporary Voices — London's leading alternative choir, renowned for their unique collaborations with artists including Imogen Heap, Alt-J, Orlando Weeks, Nitin Sawhney, U2, Laura Mvula and Sam Smith.
Caribbean-Belgian composer and jazz musician Nala Sinephro performs her solo show, ahead of the much anticipated release of her debut album later this year, featuring pedal harp through modular and analogue synths.
