About this event
We invite non-Ukrainian speakers to join us and celebrate Ukrainian folk music together. This session will be fully in English.
Spivanka is an open collaborative meeting space where we find joy in singing together.
We usually sing without accompainment, listening carefully to our voices and letting the rich tradition of the Ukrainian song to continue through us.
Everybody is welcome: our dear friends and family in the UK, those who support Ukraine and curious about our cuture, musicians and not! We are hoping that this little session can give you a glimpse into the world of Ukrainian music.
The transcriptions and translations will be provided and the session will run in English (but singing in Ukrainian) don't worry - you will understand everything!
You are welcome to join in singing as well as listening. And we kindly ask you to donate to our cause via Eventbrite. The donations will go towards printing the textbooks and administrative fees. Old Diorama Arts Centre has kindly provided us with a venue for this event.

Yes! We will translate everything to English and provide you with transcriptions and translations so you can join in singing with us if you like or follow through the songs when listening.
You are absolutely welcome to come and listen. There are also some songs that have sounds that even those who don't sing can do, we will explore them together.
Just your curiosity and good mood! We will provide anything and learn the songs together.
We will try to make a similar event in the future, but you are also welcome to support us by donating via Eventbrite any amount that you wish. Eventbrite charges a small transaction fee, but it is reasonable and transparent. The donation will go towards venue hire, printing and admin costs.
