About this event

Music • Experimental

{Spontaneous Predictions] 4th edition presents an evening of experimental music and soundscapes of field recordings, cassette collages and loops, habitual drones, feedback, analog error and chance music from Beachers, the concept horse, Left Hand Cuts off the Right, and the duo of Lucia H Chung and Marie Vermont, at the Dalston cultural hub Hundred Years Gallery, London.

Beachers

Beachers is the project of London-based Daryl Worthington. He works in the crossovers between accidental and composed sounds, hi and lo-fi audio, with a particular interest in the beauty of the mundane. This takes an array of approaches, from explorations of the materiality and tactility of radio signals through to analogue synthesis, field recording and cassette collages and sample-based computer music. Beachers releases have appeared on czaszka (rec.), Shimmering Moods, Fractal Meat, Wabi-Sabi Tapes and his own ineffectual suns label. His latest release, ‘Horns Of Death’ (ineffectual suns, 2025) explores a replica fox-hunting horn, processing and twisting its rattles, squeaks and blasts through computer and sampler.

“Most of these sounds would normally be considered interruptions, unlooked-for incursions into a peaceful state. But by transforming them into music, [Beachers] transforms his perception of the world, too. Rather than regretting what the noise adds to your environment, better to find what you can add to the noise.” Matthew Blackwell, Best Field Recordings on Bandcamp, November 2024, on There are no cicadas in this town

the concept horse

the concept horse composes and releases music constructed from an array of physical sound sources relying on iteration, slight change, analog error, chance and unrepeatability. He co-organizes the concert series - knopfwissen - in Vienna, runs the label eë editions, is one half of the duo IEOGM (w/ marie vermont) and part of BILLA ENSEMBLE (w/ turmeric acid, michiu & marie vermont). tch has released solo and collaborative sounds on Students of Decay, Molt Fluid, phncrs, Gracious Host, Hard Return, Beach Buddies Records, FALT, Kashual Plastik, Steep Gloss and czaszka [rec.].

Left Hand Cutd off the Right

Left Hand Cuts off the Right (Robbie Judkins) creates habitual drones, gear-grinding metallic buzzing, crackling rhythms and aural oddities. Mixing zither, piano, experimental electronics, objects, field recordings and loops. Described by the Quietus as, “hardcore yoga music” and the Wire, “enjoyably weird atmospheric balance between sustained calm and sticky anxiety." Robbie is also the creator of Animal Sounds (Resonance FM), Parallax View (Threads Radio) and ex-member of punk-noise band Bruxa Maria.

Lucia H Chung + Marie Vermont

Lucia H Chung is a Taiwanese experimental noise artist based in London, United Kingdom. She performs and releases music under the alias ‘en creux’ where sound creation springs from her interests and fascinations in the inherent noise floor within audio equipment. She uncovers and reveals such hidden noise via her manipulations with no-input feedback mixing. The volatile nature of feedback and the unpredictable glitch from the excessive energy generated within the equipment becomes her improvisational and compositional strategy. As the word ‘en creux’ suggests, she summons a hollowed out, reversed form of sound from the mixing console.

Marie Vermont is an artist and musician based in Vienna and has been creating music and scores since the late 2000s. Current collaborative projects are the duo IEOGM (w/ the concept horse), the quartet BILLA ENSEMBLE (w/ Michiu, turmeric acid, the concept horse) and others, with recent live shows in the EU, UK, US and JP. Marie Vermont has released recordings on various labels such as Breton cassette, Molt Fluid, eë editions, Beach Buddies Records, Chocolate Monk, Steep Gloss, Philatelie, phncrs and Hard Return.
