Join us for an in depth and practical 3 hour workshop exploring the versatile world of foam. Whether you're into cosplay, prop-making, or just love building stuff, this is the perfect introduction to foam techniques used across creative industries. You'll leave with a custom made horned helmet base and all the skills required to carry on foamsmithing on your own.
What to Expect:
Led by maker Daniele, this workshop covers everything from cutting and shaping to bonding and finishing foam pieces. All materials are provided, and you'll take home what you make. No experience necessary!
What You’ll Learn:
Before diving into the hands-on build, we’ll cover:
Foam Basics: Types of foam (reticulated, Plastazote, 7mm/10mm/20mm), uses and properties
Cutting Techniques: What’s a Gizmo, blade choices, and why cutting angles matter
Adhesives: How to stick foam together using Evostick, hot glue, and cotton tape
Shaping & Finishing: Soldering, sanding, heat guns, foam clay
Painting Prep: Tips on priming and painting (demos only, no painting during workshop)
PVA + water mix, sanding/priming, latex paint, spray paint
You'll Create: A horned helmet base with added decorative foam elements. While painting isn’t part of the hands-on portion, we’ll guide you through how to do it at home.
