Spooky Science: Toffee & Slime at the Synergy Centre
Wed 26 October 2016, 13:00 – 14:30 BST
a Family Science Workshop by the Making Place
Come along and join in some fun Spooky Science activities this half term.
Carry out experiments together, to explore solids, liquids and gases, as we make sweet & sticky Honeycomb Toffee for everyone to share. Next, discover the bizarre, freaky properties of non-Newtonian fluids when we all play with cornflour & then finally, engage in some spooky chemistry to make some Silly Slime* that you can take home with you at the end of the workshop.
*(Please note, this activity is not suitable for anyone likely to eat the slime as it can be a mild irritant - it is best to always wash your hands after handling the Silly Slime - it is not a toy).
At the Making Place we believe the best way to appreciate and understand science is by making models, watching demonstrations and doing fun experiments yourselves and in groups, and with parents & children investigating science principles together. Every child gets to make something/s to take away, which demonstrate and acts as a reminder of the scientific principles we covered during their workshop.
We will also have a selection of low cost Making Place kits on sale at each workshop, containing all the materials & parts you need to make either a Steady Hand Game, Motorised Fairground Ride or model Solar System at home.
