Description

There is nothing more relaxing or more rewarding that whittling your own cooking utensils – join us for a day of carving fun and learn the fundamentals of spoon carving, from selecting a log to applying an oil finish.

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in traditional woodland crafts, from complete beginners to those wishing to learn from others in a group setting. Throughout the day we will discuss wood species, spoon ergonomics and finishes then, using axes and knives, we will show you the main techniques for removing wood in a safe and controlled manner. With a little patience, and probably a blister or two, you will leave with your very own wooden spoon!

The session will take place in the TCV garden, so please dress for the weather. Tea and Coffee will be provided throughout the day but a packed lunch (or some dinner money) is recommended to keep you going.
