Physics, engineering and sport all come together in this exploration of Rob's work as a bio-mechanical engineer.
About this event
This is an opportunity for your students to learn about how STEM links into Sport! During this 45 minute session you will hear from Rob a bio-mechanical engineer who's passion for STEM and sport has fused together in his job role. The session will include:
- A 10 minute talk on sport equipment and how science and engineering are used in the aerodynamics of sports balls, rebounding/spinning balls and sports shoe grip.
- A 10 minute talk on para-sports and running blades looking at the engineering behind these.
- A 10 minute talk sharing what Rob does in his role at DePuy Synthes. DePuy Synthes has a range of “sports” prostheses for ankle and shoulder injuries. Rob will share these products with us and explain why/when they are used.
The session is aimed at students aged 14 -17.
We will send you a link to the recording after the session. However for any schools that cannot make the sessions there is also a ticket to request access to the recording.
Please click on the green button above to register for tickets. You will need 1 ticket per login and will need to use the same email address to login to the Zoom session. We are asking teachers to screen share this Zoom webinar with their students and to ensure that they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
