The Diabetes Football Community, 1Bloodydrop.com & the University of Worcester

The Diabetes Football Community, 1Bloodydrop.com and the University of Worcester invite you to join them for a unique event for people with type 1 diabetes, led and run by people living with type 1 diabetes, they all want to help you to succeed in your sports, exercise and activity goals by sharing their own strategies for managing blood glucose levels before, during and after their sports.

Chris Bright, a semi-professional footballer; Paul Coker, an endurance runner and mountain climber, Georgia Thompson, a weightlifter from Cardiff and Pete Davies a high altitude mountain climber who has been living with type 1 diabetes for more than 60 years.  The speakers have a combined experience of over 130 years of living with type 1 diabetes and they will be sharing the secrets of their sporting success with you at this exclusive event.   The University of Worcester has arranged for some leading experts on exercise and physiology to help us to all to understand how our bodies might respond differently to exercise because we have type 1 diabetes.  Chris & Paul, recognise that each of us with type 1 diabetes has a different experience and approach, they know from first-hand experience that we learn so much about the day-to-day management of our own diabetes by talking with others who have type 1 diabetes and when it comes to diabetes, sport and exercise it can be difficult to find that peer support and that is why they have organised this event.

We have all been there in that moment when you go to the gym, or for a run to tone up and then experience a massive hypo and eat your own body weight in chocolate afterwards, we have all experienced that fear of going hypo which can be a barrier to training, we have all had days when our blood glucose levels are so high that our performance has been affected, or it may even be dangerous to exercise.

The conference will provide you with:

  1. How People without Diabetes respond to Exercise
  2. How People with Diabetes respond to Exercise
  3. Managing Blood Glucose Levels during Team Sports
  4. Managing Blood Glucose Levels during Anaerobic Sports (Weight Lifting)
  5. Managing Blood Glucose Levels during Aerobic Exercise (Long distance Running)
  6. Managing Blood Glucose Levels During High ALtitude Mountain Climbing
  7. Peer Support & Networking opportunities

Sign up now to get access to this unique event at the early bird discount price, spaces are strictly limited due to to the venue size and we really want to serve you and provide you with an incredible type 1 diabetes peer support event

*All funds raised will be used to support the formation of the first ever Type 1 Diabetes Futsal Team
