Tests are for current Year 6 students only, for admission in September 2025 and will take place on Thursday 17th October 2024, at Wood Green Academy. The deadline for registering is midnight on Sunday 13th October 2024.

You will be given an option as to what testing session you would like your child to attend.

If your child is unable to attend on Thursday 17th October 2024, please inform us straight away, as we can re-assign them a spot, for the catch-up session on Wednesday 23rd October 2024.

Please note that these are the only two dates available.

In order to maintain a safe environment, a number of measures will be in place and must be adhered to by all:

- Your child should arrive at Wood Green Academy and enter via the gate on St Paul’s Road. The testing process will take just over an hour and all applicants will be released via the Wood Green Road gates. Times must be strictly adhered to. Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your child’s assigned time. Candidates arriving late will not be allowed entry.

- There will be no parking available on St Paul’s Road or the school site. It may be necessary to park on the retail park and walk over.

- Parents will not be allowed on site. Children will be dropped off at the St Paul’s Road gate – they will exit via the Wood Green Road gate.

- On arrival your child will be asked their date of birth and the name of the Primary School they attend. They must know these details themselves.

- Your child must have their own drink that is clearly labelled.

- Your child must have all required medication, such as inhalers, labelled and in their possession. A medical form must have been completed in full and submitted with your application form (this applies to all applicants taking the test).

- Your child is required to wear suitable sportswear eg trainers, shorts and t-shirt. Jeans and shoes/boots/flip flops/sliders are not acceptable. A number of tests are being conducted outside so please ensure your child is suitably clothed – we recommend a lightweight waterproof top/cagoul but ideally not a coat.

- Please ensure your child has been to the toilet before they arrive at the school.

The tests that will be carried out are as per the ‘Admissions Information.’

When all tests have been conducted, results will be sent to Sandwell Local Education Authority. A decision will then be made by Sandwell LEA and they will inform you by March as to whether your child has secured a place on the grounds of Sporting Aptitude. The Academy will not have this information before this date. Students who fail to achieve a place on Sporting Aptitude may still qualify on other grounds eg distance from the school.
