Event description
The great way to look forward to Scotland taking part in Euro 2021

About this Event

Following on from the success of our inaugural virtual event we are proud to bring to our supporters a follow up which will focus on the Scotland men’s Football team’s participation at the upcoming Euro 2021 tournament.

Featuring as a prelude to the Euro 2021 Championships, our online event will include on the panel the vastly experienced and knowledgeable: Shelley Kerr MBE, John Collins and Dave McPherson. The event will be chaired by the doyen of Scottish sports broadcasters, Dougie Donnelly.

Shelley played senior football both north and south of the border whilst gaining 59 Scotland Caps. Managerial positions followed again in both Scotland and England. Her managerial career culminated in Shelley becoming the national head coach in 2017 and leading Scotland to the 2019 World Cup finals in France.

John's playing career included 555 senior club appearances in Scotland, England and France and 58 Scotland Caps. He played in both of the last two International tournaments the men's team played in; Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup. Post playing he then went into management both in Scotland and France.

Dave amassed 628 senior club appearances the vast majority of which were in Scotland but also with a year in Australia. His international career of 27 caps included playing at both the 1990 World Cup in Italy and the 1992 Euros in Sweden. After a brief period in management Dave moved into Sports Management.

Dougie's broadcasting career began in the 1970s at Radio Clyde but his move to the BBC Sports Department in 1980 made him a household name. His career includes being main anchor of Sportscene and also covering rugby, golf, darts, snooker and bowls. Dougie is a long standing friend of The Sportsman's Charity having been the host for our Annual Dinner for quite some years.

Expect the evening to cover experiences at major tournaments, Scotland’s chances at their first major tournament since 1998 and potential team selections!

You will also be able to pose your own questions to the panel in advance of the event, by replying to this email, and throughout the event via the Q&A Function on Zoom.

The ticket will also include entry to a prize draw, which includes a chance to win a case of wine (kindly donated by Vino).
