Event description

Description

Have you got a bike resting idle in your shed, garage or propped under the stairs?

Do you lack confidence about your ride skills, what to wear or how to train for fitness? If so why not join our Couch to Bike course!

Cycling is an ideal way to build your fitness as it’s non weight-bearing which makes it gentle on your joints.

We’ll start off with advice on what to wear, how to use your gears properly and how best to train, ride assertively and stay safe. We’ll also supply you with suggestions on pleasant cycling routes in South Glos.

We then take you to a traffic free site to practice your skills and get used to riding.

The next part of the course is ‘virtual’ which you do at your own pace and convenience over the following 8 weeks. We post the training online at our Strava site and you log in and upload your rides. Strava is a free resource and even if you don’t have a compatible fitness device or smart phone you can still log your sessions manually. We’ll suggest suitable meeting points for you to get together with others and ride together from hubs around South Gloucestershire.

Finally we all come back together on Sunday 29th October for our Graduation ride. Starting at Page Park Staple Hill you’ll follow a mostly traffic free route that takes you 30,40 or 50km route - your choice - through South Glos and Bath. Once you’ve done we’ll present you with a finishers t-shirt and a drink!

By the time you’ve finished the course the chances are you’ll be riding your bike regularly and possibly ditching the car commute saving you time, money and hassle.

So what are you waiting for, sign up now!
