After fifty-two years of closure, the Caledonia Road Church will once again be opened to the public. RE: Dwell present Spotlight Caledonia, an evening of literature, music and art as part of an ongoing programme of events, celebrating national, regional and local potential through creativity.
Lesley Riddoch, art organisation WAVEparticle and Lateral North amongst others, will present published work and on-going projects on themes of community and potential, complemented with live performances from Blochestra.
Gates open at 18.30
Caledonia Road Church, Gorbals, Glasgow G5 0SJ
The re-opening of the Caledonia Road Church falls under the title RE:DWELL - a collaborative project between art organisation WAVEparticle; architects Lateral North; and Masters Of Architecture students from Strathclyde University, Frankie Murphy and Charis Cheiridou. A series of events and exhibitions are planned throughout the summer and beyond to continue the use of the space.
It is hoped that the planned event programme, will support the long-term redevelopment of Caledonia Road Church and open it up to the local community, to Glasgow city and beyond.
The re-opening of the Caledonia Road Church is supported by Glasgow City Council, Stalled Spaces, NGHA and Urban Union, and is one of a series of opportunities developed by WAVEparticle as part of Art & Living & Laurieston, the art strategy for Laurieston - www.lauriestonlivingarts.com
