Spotlight: Emotional Intelligence & Neurodiversity
Overview
Spotlight Sessions are run by Trainer Talk members (who are freelance trainers) for freelance trainers.
Emotional Intelligence & Neurodiversity (with Nick Lennon-Barrett)
Trainers and leaders increasingly need the tools to read emotional cues, support regulation, and design learning that includes neurodivergent participants.
In this session we’ll explore how emotional intelligence and neurodivergent difference interact and practise some techniques you can utilise to reduce overwhelm and de-escalate strong emotions in the training room, making your sessions more inclusive.
Sessions will be recorded and available to view up to two weeks after the event.
These sessions are open to freelance trainers outside of The Trainer Talk membership (for a small charge) and to our Trainer Talk membership (for free).
About Nick
Nick is an award-winning learning leader with over 20 years’ experience helping people thrive. From FTSE 100 companies to high-growth disruptors. He’s trained thousands, coached hundreds, and transformed teams across a multitude of industries with his signature blend of bold delivery, practical tools, and lived experience.
His journey began in chaos: undiagnosed ADHD, kicked out at 16, and leaving his small northern town at 19 after coming out. His twenties were about survival.
Today, he’s built a career helping others do more than survive, he helps them soar. Nick is known for creating game-changing frameworks that unlock superpowers in individuals, teams, and cultures.
His delivery style is high-energy, high-impact, and built for real transformation, not just inspiration. He’s also a published author, a proud voice for LGBTQ+ inclusion, and a relentless advocate for turning adversity into advantage.
What Is Trainer Talk?
Trainer Talk is a membership community for freelance trainers, a one-stop shop for business growth. We attract trainers who are serious about growing their business with the support of like minded people who are usually experiencing the same challenges! Freelance training can be lonely. It needn't be!
Having a community behind you is so important when you’re self-employed. It gives you a sense of belonging, of being understood and knowing that you’re not alone.
This is what Trainer Talk is all about. It’s a fun, friendly, vibrant online and in-person community exclusively made up of trainers.
Every member ‘gets it’. They know what it’s like to look for training contracts, to pitch for work, to wrestle with what to charge, to juggle training with admin or outsourcing, and so much more.
Far from being competitive with one another, Trainer Talk members act as collaborators, supporters, the most enthusiastic cheerleaders… and we’d love you to become a part of our brilliant community. Sound good? You can find out more here. We hope to see you soon!
