The Scottish Young Lawyers' Association is delighted to introduce the next in our 'Spotlight on…' series, taking place on Thursday 28 November 2019. This series aims to deliver insight into different sectors of the Scottish business world and what clients operating in these areas need from their legal advisers. The sessions aim to foster increased commercial awareness and industry insight.

'Spotlight on… Counter Fraud' will hear presentations from DWF's Partner and Head of Counter Fraud (Scotland), Jill Sinclair, and Andrew Tomlie, Legal Director at Clyde and Co.

Jill possesses extensive expertise in counter fraud and claims validation, with experience in defending suspected fraudulent insurance claims including motor claims, employer's liability, public liability as well as first party fraud. Prior to specialising in counter fraud she pursued high value, catastrophic injury claims and clinical negligence claims. She has a keen focus on strategic litigation and the technical aspects of counter fraud litigation. Jill has run numerous cases to successful outcomes and has worked closely with a number of clients in understanding their counter fraud philosophies and developing appropriate strategies. She regularly advises insurer management on leakage and exposure risk as well as more general guidance on process, claims handling and business improvement.

Andrew acts for insurer clients representing their Scottish interests across business lines. The majority of his practice is in the Court of Session and Sheriff Personal Injury Court in high value, catastrophic and fatal personal injury cases including employer’s liability, public liability and road traffic accidents. Andrew also represents insurers in high value property and product liability disputes. Andrew provides training to arrange of insurance clients on the legal issues surrounding potentially fraudulent claims. He has experience in defending such actions at all levels in courts throughout Scotland.

Registration will commence at 17:30, with the event beginning at 18:00. Delegates will then have the opportunity to ask questions and network over refreshments.
