About the Workshop:

Actors have a natural ability to express themselves in an engaging manner. This workshop will help Theatre Practitioners to transfer their natural and trained skills to the Corporate and Academic world. This workshop will provide practical pointers on how you can maximise your own communication skills and acting training to work outside Theatre or TV. You will see from the two quoted paragraphs below what is needed to help those in the corporate world, especially leaders and you could be the one to help them!

Presenting information and influencing others is an intrinsic aspect of the leadership role. The more effectively your communication is delivered, the greater the chance that your message will have the desired impact.

The ability to present confidently to a wide range of audiences and without over-reliance on PowerPoint, is a crucial skill for Senior Management and leaders who are often required to present to many different levels of expertise and understanding.

There will be time after the workshop to ask Sarah any questions you may have.

About Sarah Thurstan:

Sarah graduated from Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic many moons ago and spent some years devising and performing in Theatre in Education for Theatre Centre Ltd and also working with an Experimental Theatre Company in Holland, Belgium and France called ‘KISS’. Her performances included Mrs X in The Stronger by Strindberg, the Policeman from Zanzibar in Breasts of Tiresias by Apollinaire Lulu in The Birthday Party and a gong slave in Wilde’s Salome.

Sarah’s performances for Demi-Paradise, Lancaster Castle included Countess Roussillon in All’s Well that Ends Well and Gertrude in Hamlet in 2008. For the Dukes Theatre, Lancaster she has played Irene Ruddock in Alan Bennett’s Lady of Letters ‘from Talking Heads and for the summer season in Tom Thumb and other Giant Tales in Williamson’s Park.

TV roles include Mrs Browns Boys, Coronation Street, East Enders, Emmerdale, Tracey Beaker, The Chase, A & E, Silent Witness, Casualty, The Grand, Wycliffe, Prime Suspect. Hollyoaks, Where the Heart is, All Quiet on the Preston Front, Heartbeat, Little Bird, Mickey Love (Rik Mayall Playhouse), Asylum (film) and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates,

Sarah has run her own company ‘Performance Link Limited’ since 2000 taking theatre skills, especially presentation and leadership communication, into business, academia and the arts.
