About this event
In the UK, more than 150,000 people live with MS. Each one of their journeys is unique. People are diagnosed at different ages, experience different symptoms, respond differently to treatments, and face different challenges. The reason for these differences starts with the condition itself. The biology of MS is complex, unpredictable, and varies from person to person. But the biology of the condition doesn’t act alone. This webinar spotlights some of the specific research exploring MS in minoritised ethnic groups to understand if ethnicity plays a role.
- Dr Ben Jacobs will share information from the ADAMS study, which looks at the genes of people with MS from non-European ancestries, so that we can get a better understanding of MS risk factors.
- Patients from minority ethnic backgrounds are currently under-represented in clinical research and patient public involvement (PPI) activities. Their experience of living with MS is little researched. Dr Sharifa Battashi will share information about a project to explore the current patient experience of MS care from people from minoritised groups.
