Training covers everything you need to know to build Sensory Portraits and Foundation Sensory Support Plans, in consultation with parents, which have set goals to support the child’s sensory and/or autistic wellbeing in their settings. The training includes key learning points (diagram below) which include:
- an introduction to child development and Autism, with Autism inclusive strategies;
- using the Person, Environment, Occupation (PEO) model as a framework to support understanding and intervention;
- being able to understand the 8 sensory systems and how it can impact on a child's day;
- strategies for the early years environment
Open to any member of a registered early years setting across the Cheshire East area.
We encourage each setting to commit to the SEN Lead for the setting + 1 key member of staff actively working with children in the setting (e.g. a nursery teacher, teaching assistant), to attend the training jointly, as this supports best practice.
