About this event

Training covers everything you need to know to build Sensory Portraits and Foundation Sensory Support Plans, in consultation with parents, which have set goals to support the child’s sensory and/or autistic wellbeing in their settings. The training includes key learning points (diagram below) which include:

  • an introduction to child development and Autism, with Autism inclusive strategies;
  • using the Person, Environment, Occupation (PEO) model as a framework to support understanding and intervention;
  • being able to understand the 8 sensory systems and how it can impact on a child's day;
  • strategies for the early years environment

Open to any member of a registered early years setting across the Cheshire East area.

We encourage each setting to commit to the SEN Lead for the setting + 1 key member of staff actively working with children in the setting (e.g. a nursery teacher, teaching assistant), to attend the training jointly, as this supports best practice.
