On Thursday 16 October 2014 Professor Stephen B. Bevans SVD will be delivering a public lecture titled: “Spreading the Joy of the Gospel: Pope Francis and Missionary Discipleship Today”.
This will begin with a reception from 6.30pm in the Conference Suite at Leeds Trinity University and the lecture begins at 7.00pm. It is one of a series of public lectures this year organised by Theology and the Chaplaincy at Leeds Trinity University. Dr Bevans is Louis J. Luzbetak Professor of Mission and Culture, Catholic Theological Union, Chicago and an internationally renowned speaker. In 2012, Leeds Trinity University held an international theological conference on the New Evangelization, which was being promoted by Pope Benedict. Professor Bevans will reflect on Pope Francis' views on the topic as expressed in Evangelii Gaudium.
