About this Event

Women's tutored writing retreat. Spring Forward with Your Writing. Suitable for all women writers of fiction, memoir, poetry & nature writing. We will be based at the beautiful Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Bristol based literature organisation Satellite of Love are organising a Women's Tutored Writing Retreat at the Kingcombe Centre, Dorset 15-17th April 2020

Spring Forward with Your Writing! With family, work and other commitments women often find it difficult to prioritise their writing. This tutored retreat is for women who want to find a quiet, gentle place to boost their craft. Using a combination of tutorials, informal exercises, writing time and friendly gatherings, poet Helen Sheppard and Creative Writing Tutor Lucy English will enable you to renew your creative vision and to map out your writing future.

Spring Forward with Your Writing! is suitable for all types of writers.

The retreat will take place at the beautiful Kingcombe Centre in Dorset, a gorgeous 450 wildlife reserve. The cost is £395 to include two nights accommodation, single en-suite accommodation and all food! (One Twin room available £295 per person)

The retreat will run from 4pm Wednesday 15th April to 2pm Friday 17th April.

Lucy English is a Reader in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. She is a spoken word poet and novelist. She is co-director, with Sarah Tremlett, of Liberated Words, a CIC company, which creates, curates and screens poetry films. Lucy's current digital project is The Book of Hours, a reimagining of a medieval book of hours in poetry film format. The Book of Hours contains 48 poetry films created in collaboration with 27 collaborators from Europe, America and Australia. Films from this project have been screened at many international poetry film festivals including Visible Verse, Canada; Weimar and Zebra, Germany; Lisbon, Portugal; Poole Lighthouse and Newlyn in the U.K. She is researching the placement of spoken word in poetry films. The poetry from this project was published in book form by Burning Eye Press in 2018.

Helen a midwife writes poems about birth and those unheard. Co-runs Satellite of Love Spoken Word events. Delighted to be Poet in Residence, monthly open mics and community poems.
