Spring Skill Share: Chestnut Cleft Fencing
Event Information
Description
Join host group Bryngarw Park Volunteer Group as they learn how to produce cleft fencing from chestnut felled on site.
This day long activity will show you how to use a brake, draw knife, and shave horse to create timber fencing in a traditional way. Participants will learn how to split the grain effectively as part of the cleaving process then shape the timber to make up the fencing.
The group will meet at Cedars Tea Rooms at 10am, the skill share will finish around 3.30pm (longer if there is lots of enthusiasm!)
Hearty soup, crusty bread and cake is included to keep everyone motivated !
Llais y Goedwig can provide a small number of travel bursaries to members who would like to attend. These are on a first come first serve basis via the network coordinator. Contact info@llaisygoedwig.org.uk for details.
