Event description

Description

Landscape Learn will be hosted by Knepp Castle Park, one of the largest rewilding projects in lowland Europe, where some fields came out of arable 20 years ago, others were abandoned after the 2006 harvest, to investigate soils and stewardship.

Landscape Learn will set the scene asking, what is the impact to society of soil degradation?

Estate ecologist Penny Green, will introduce alternative stewardship on a grand scale, with Ted Green founder of the Ancient Tree Forum who has been involved with Knepp since its inception. Expert soil scientist Tim O’Hare will join us to discuss the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of soil. Composer, artist and performer Claudia Molitor will reveal Earthworm, a sound composition. The day will include being out in the field, investigating and excavating followed by a picnic. We will focus on soil characteristics, stewardship, rural land management and the art and science of soil restoration.
