Spring is the perfect time to detox our body and mind.

Our body has a natural ability to cleanse itself but sometimes these natural detoxification systems can become sluggish so this workshop will boost your innate detox functions through a series of cleansing yoga poses and sequences.

A build-up of everyday toxins such as sugar, caffeine, alcohol, pesticides, and plastics can have a negative effect on our energy, immunity, and digestion so the workshop will take you through poses and flows designed to revitalise the major detox organs in the body including the lymphatic system and parasympathetic nervous system.

We’ll start off with some dynamic flows to generate heat, build strength, and sweat out toxins, before moving onto a series of twists and bends to increase circulation, improve digestion, and encourage detoxification by compressing internal organs.

We’ll move on to explore inverted (upside down) yoga poses such as shoulder stand, headstand, and handstand variations, using gravity to stimulate lymphatic drainage and blood circulation to enhance detoxification.

After challenging ourselves physically and mentally through detox flows and poses, we’ll focus on activating our parasympathetic nervous system – the part of our nervous system that is responsible for digestion and relaxation.

Through a series of passive, restorative yin poses we’ll activate our relaxation response which will counteract the release of stress hormones and speed up the detox process to give the digestive, lymph, and circulatory systems a chance to work more efficiently. These poses will also encourage your muscles to relax and lengthen to improve flexibility and mobility.

After focusing on strength, flexibility, and detoxing, we’ll finish off with a short, calming meditation so, as you cleanse your body, you can clear your mind.

Through a series of dynamic flows, challenging strength-based poses, detoxifying twists, and calming relaxations, this workshop will leave you feeling strong, energised and revitalised.
