Ydych chi’n gerddor ifanc uchelgeisiol sy’n 14-18 oed ac yn frwd dros gerddoriaeth glasurol? Ydych chi am ddatblygu eich sgiliau cyfansoddi, offerynnau a chreu trefniannau?

Mae’r cwrs Cyfansoddwyr Ifanc yn cynnwys gweithdai cyfansoddi tymhorol yn Neuadd Dewi Sant lle byddwch yn cael eich arwain ac yn cael eich tiwtora i ysgrifennu ar gyfer ensemble clasurol, a chlywed eich cyfansoddiad yn cael ei chwarae gan y cerddorion.

Mae’r cynllun AM DDIM a bydd yn gorffen gyda pherfformiad o’ch gwaith sydd ar y gweill neu eich darnau terfynol lle cânt eu recordio, eu golygu a’u hanfon atoch i’w cadw.

Y cyfansoddwr sydd wedi ennill gwobr Tess Tyler, fydd yn arwain y cwrs. Byddwn yn gweithio i gyfansoddi ar gyfer pedwarawd llinynnol gyda’r Mavron Quartet. Yn ystod y cwrs byddwch yn darganfod bydoedd sain y gwahanol offerynnau tra’n darganfod eu galluoedd a’u cyfyngiadau er mwyn creu eich cyfansoddiadau eich hunain.

Are you an aspiring young musician aged 14-18 with a passion for classical music? Do you want to develop your skills in composition, instrumentation and arranging?

In conjunction with the Cardiff Classical Series at St David’s Hall, Arts Active is offering an invaluable opportunity to learn from and work alongside professional composers and highly experienced instrumentalists from Wales.

The Young Composers course consists of termly composition workshops in St David’s Hall, in which you will be guided and given tuition in writing for a classical ensemble, and hear your compositions tried out loud by the musicians.

The course is FREE and will end in a final showcase of your works-in-progress or final pieces where they will be recorded, edited and sent out to you to keep.

This is an exciting opportunity that will look great on further education applications and will be of particular benefit if you are building a portfolio of work for School or university.

Leading the course will be award-winning composer Tess Tyler. We will be working to compose for string quartet with the Mavron Quartet. During the course you will discover the sound worlds of the different instruments while discovering their capabilities and limitations in order to create your own composition.

Past courses: Writing for Orchestral Percussion, Wind Quintet, Flute Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Composing for a purpose: Education, Theatre, Film & Game, Trio of Harp, Viola and Flute, Trio of Piano, Double bass and saxophone, Saxophone Quartet, Clarinet Quartet, Film Music, Choral SATB Music
