About the University of Law:
At The University of Law you’ll get the best possible start to your legal career. We are the world’s leading professional law school and, with centres in Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Guildford, London, Manchester, Leeds and a collaboration with The University of Exeter, we’re the first choice for aspiring future lawyers. Our innovative courses are designed and taught by lawyers, with a clear focus on building the practical skills, commercial awareness and independent thinking you need to succeed in the modern world of law.
What will this session cover?
This is part 1 of our 2 part 'Springboard into Law' programme. This programme is for both Law and non-Law students and Part 1 focuses on vacation schemes and training contracts - It covers the graduate recruitment process, researching law firms and matching your key competencies to what employers are looking for!
By attending this session, you will be invited to Part 2 which will take place at our Bristol Centre (by Temple Meads station) on Wednesday 9th November 2016. Part 2 is only open to those who have attended Part 1 and provides advice on how to make yourself stand out in assessment centres and interviews, as well as a networking master class on how to market yourself effectively to potential employers. You will then have the opportunity to put these skills into practice and network with a range of contacts from some of the UK’s leading law firms! Firms in attendance last year included: Ashfords LLP, Bevan Brittan, Bond Dickinson LLP, Foot Anstey LLP, NewLaw Solicitors, Osborne Clarke, Paragon Costs, Simmons & Simmons, Thrings LLP, Burges Salmon, DAC Beachcroft LLP, Irwin Mitchell LLP, RPC, St. John's Chambers, TLT LLP, Veale Wasbrough Vizards, Withy King.
This session will be relevant to any student considering a career or postgraduate study in Law.
Attending this session will count towards the Plymouth Award (1 hour in the Working Life category).
