About this event

  • 4 hours

This event is part of a series of in-depth wild food walks lead by professional forager Peter Studzinski. Peter’s Polish father raised him with a deep understanding of the traditions of sustainably gathering wild food and Peter, now in his 60s, has continued to forage all his life, as well as inspiring, advising and supplying wild harvested ingredients to some of the country’s best chefs.

This course will last between three and four hours, during which time you will learn how to safely and sustainably forage for common wild plants that grow abundantly, all around the country. The specific focus of this morning will be on the abundance of springtime wild plants found particularly in hedgerows. May is an excellent month for foraging so expect to identify and collect at least two dozen edible species. During this walk we will look at various topics ranging from edible and historical uses of plants and mushrooms to herbal remedies, self-sufficiency, sustainability, wild food cooking and preserving techniques.
