I am white, straight and just POC. Is this event for me?

What is SQN Community Connect?

A way to connect with people who are QTIPOC (individuals or organisations) or allies, that want to help support QTIPOC centred ideas, creators, freelancers, corporates, businesses, activists and more.

Who are SQN?

We were founded by QTIPOC who connected via Rainbow Noir in Manchester. However, we realise the need for this network to be bigger than one group. This means we know we need to grow SQN into a community driven by a shared purpose. Our identity will evolve as our membership grows.

What do we aim to do for QTIPOC?

We know there are many barriers and intersectional issues facing QTIPOC. We believe that a positive, QTIPOC centred approach will create the conditions and opportunities for us to thrive. Together, we have a lot to offer as a collective active community in Greater Manchester.

How are we going to meet your aims?

We will be running four SQN Community Connects in 2025. They will offer ways to: • Network with others (Community Connects) • Co-develop and collaborate on solutions to QTIPOC barriers (Manifesto of Change) • Gather insight and some data (Community Board)

What did you call yourself SQN?

SQN is pronounced “se-quin” and it stands for Slay Queen Network. This touches on different QTIPOC cultures by highlighting: • Slay Queens meaning delivering excellence; and • Sequins which feature in some QTIPOC cultures as celebratory. We want to acknowledge the sense of fun and positivity of SQN.
