Squiggle Workshop with Red Telephone @ Radiate Arts
Date: Friday, 26th July 2025

Time: 10:30am – 4:00pm (with a break for lunch)
Location: Radiate Arts, Nicholas Street, Chester
Cost: £35 (includes all materials, a t-shirt or tote bag, and refreshments. Lunch not included.)

Join us for a full-day creative workshop exploring the expressive and therapeutic power of the humble squiggle! Inspired by Donald Winnicott’s squiggle technique, artist and facilitator Yasmin Qureshi (she/her) will guide participants through playful, intuitive exercises using a variety of art materials to unlock creativity, enhance mindfulness, and free the imagination.

Red Telephone

Psychotherapist and wellbeing professional Karin Qureshi (she/her) will also be present, offering support and informal conversation for those who may wish to explore personal reflections during the creative process.

This workshop is ideal for adults looking to explore creativity, de-stress, or reconnect with their inner artist. All experience levels are welcome to take part in this accessible workshop.

The session will culminate in a print-making exercise, using your developed squiggles to decorate a T-shirt or Tote Bag

About the Artist:

Yasmin is an artist and facilitator based in Bristol; she works in multimedia using the Squiggle technique as the basis for her artwork. Often using them as inspiration for textile, animation and paintings.

Karin has been a healthcare professional for over 25 years, she has experience working in the NHS and Higher Education mental health, counselling and wellbeing services.

What to expect:

Morning (10:30-12:30) :

- Check ins and short introductions

- Information and examples on the development of ‘The Squiggle’ technique

- Quick warm up activities using a variety of materials

- Longer activities developing drawings.

- Group reflections on experiences during the morning with time to wind down before lunch break

Afternoon (1:00-4:30):

- Explore different approaches to using our drawings

- Choosing a piece to develop into a print

- Afternoon tea, coffee and biscuits!

- Make our prints using the printing press

- Group reflections on the full day experience

- Grounding activities before finishing the workshop.
