Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) invites you to this Digital workshop aimed at people who have skills and business conversations with Employers within the Heart of the South West, Dorset & West of England regions. This workshop will discuss the most effective ways to engage businesses with the digital skills agenda and understand how best to diagnose and meet their digital skills needs.
Designed to support training providers to answer technology questions and engage in conversations, you will learn how new tech is impacting on businesses, how digital technology is changing business growth models and what you can do within your Training business to support some of the digital skills needs of the future.
This interactive session will enable you to build out your own question set when talking to employers and develop a credible digital knowledge base.
The workshop will cover:
1. Digital Review
• Why is digital important for all businesses?
• Facilitated discussion: What are the key questions that will open a digital business conversation?
• Develop a template for supporting digital conversations.
• Develop and adopt digital models to share in meetings
2. Challenging the current digital offer
• Get to know Office 365 capabilities - deep dive
• Match O365 with productivity improvements
• Discuss how could this be packaged as a course and how can it be included in existing courses
3. Adding digital skills into soft skills delivery
• Run soft skills training? Discuss and learn how can we include digital in the soft skills agenda and vice versa. We will look at examples of customer service, team admin and match with opportunities for chatbots use, social media management skills etc.
4. Action Planning
• Review session, what will you do differently? What are the next steps?
• Record on One Note and describe your key actions
WORKSHOP FACILITATOR: Kate Doodson, CEO of Cosmic IT.
Kate is the Joint Chief Executive of Cosmic, one of the leading social enterprises in the South West and recognised across the UK for its achievements and ongoing development. Kate is a girl geek having spent 18 years in the IT industry, many of which running a wholly female owned IT software business.
Kate specialises in Digital Futures and the strategic use of Digital to transform business processes. She is passionate about ensuring businesses use the full range of digital services available to them to give them the edge they need to thrive, particularly in the rural economy.
Kate regularly delivers lectures across the UK and internationally on Digital Transformation. Kate is a steering group member of the South West Cyber Security Cluster, Tech South West and a STEM ambassador in Schools. Her previous career in Civil Engineering enabled her to work extensively in both the UK and overseas.
Kate has been shortlisted for the Women in IT awards, as IT Advocate of the Year, and received awards from Tech4Good, Social Enterprise UK and Venus awards
